HOW WE WORK

Framework

​We initiate, facilitate, fund, broker, deliver and collaborate on a range of projects that are: 
Locally-led projects and programs
Accompany & support local actors to lead, manage and deliver projects.  Enable the spaces for them to upskill, build and maintain partnerships, contribute to a community pool of local leaders, support collaborative and collective action. 
Transformative, problem-driven and adaptive
Our intention is transformative, that is to address the structural inequities experienced by the Sandalwood Indigenous communities.  Projects will respond to solving problems, as defined by local actors and are adaptive. Projects aim to create spaces to enable local actors to drive solutions to local problems.  ​
Gender sensitive 
To work with local actors to understand and implement gender sensitive projects and programs that lead to structural empowerment gains for Aboriginal women and youth. ​

Community Wellbeing on Sandalwood Lands​
  • Projects that preserve, revitalise and embed cultural knowledge, including Sandalwood knowledge, to improve cultural, spiritual and environmental wellbeing. 
  • Projects that address health and wellbeing. 
  • Projects that provide education and training programs for  Indigenous communities. 

Sandalwood Conservation and Land Management​
  • Projects that protect, preserve, and regenerate wild sandalwood land and habitats through Indigenous-led sustainable practices.  
  • Support collaboration and partnerships for native title holders to manage and care for their wild sandalwood lands and habitats. 
  • Fund innovation and research into uses of the deadwood from Sandalwood Resource Areas to increase environmental impact of forestry management practices.

Sandalwood Industry and Livelihoods

  • Projects that provide education, training and employment opportunities in the Sandalwood industry at all levels - from technical training to management and planning.
  • Support and build capacity for native title holders to gain access to, ownership of, and share resources within Sandalwood growing regions within native title lands
