BEGINNINGS

Since the Dutjahn’s Foundation inception in late 2016, it has grown through different phases.  ​


2016 – 2020

​Impact Focus:

Increasing Indigenous Equity in the Sandalwood Industry
The Dutjahn Foundation supported Native Title Holders of wild Sandalwood lands to:
  • Manage and protect their land through innovative resource management methods. 
  • Gain full ownership rights to their lands and natural assets from FPC/Government control. 
  • Gain unprecedented longer term licenses in line with non-Indigenous industry. 
  • Receive ministerial acknowledgement of historical and current inequity within the Sandalwood Industry.
  • Increase royalty flows directly to Indigenous Industry which directly contributed to their communities. 
  • generate Sandalwood Management and Regeneration Plans
  • Fund and support their Ranger Programs to support their Sandalwood Management Plans. 
  • Receive a United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Equatorial Award recognising Indigenous leadership in the Sandalwood Industry in Western Australia. 
  • Advance Indigenous certification of Indigenous wild Sandalwood which includes a range of ethical international standards. 
  • Establish and Indigenous Sandalwood Taskforce to advice Government on Natural Resource management Strategy.  
  • Increase employment opportunities in Regional WA and the Goldfields. 

2020 – 2021 

​Impact Focus: 

Supporting safety for Indigenous remote communities during Covid-19 Pandemic
​The Dutjahn Foundation directly supported the safety of Sandalwood communities by:  
  • Obtaining over 10,000 sanitising products and other PPE equipment from Dutjahn Sandalwood Oil’s customer base to be donated to our Indigenous local partners and their communities.
